Managed Care and the U.S. Military

Overview

In 1998, the U.S. Military made a change in its plan to provide medical coverage for dependents of Active Duty personnel as well as retired personnel. That system is known as Tricare. An overview of the program is available by clicking here.

General Information

Everything you ever wanted (or needed) to know about Tricare is available through the Press Kit.

Tricare is described from the viewpoint of an insurer; Click here.

A Guidebook for Beneficiaries is at Beneficiary Guidebook.

Plans Available

A brief description of the plans is available here.

The key feature of the plans is portability, so important to the military family.

There is also a Medicare Program for retirees and their families.
